World of Warcraft

Goodbye World (of Warcraft)

I canceled my World of Warcraft account last night. In a few days, my account will expire and I won't be able to log in anymore. Why did I do it? Two main reasons. First, I got bored with the game. Like severely bored. Second, I just didn't find the time to play anymore. Not that I have no free time (in fact, I have plenty), but rather that on the list of things I'd rather be doing, WoW kept sliding lower and lower. Eventually it got to the point where I'd log in every few days JUST because I was paying a monthly fee for the game, but I'd never have enough interest to actually play the game. I'd just sit there in whatever town I was in, maybe chat with my guild mates, and then log off in ten minutes when I got tired of that. Oh well.  Read more »

A WoW Groupie

A Wow Groupie

A funny thing happened while playing World of Warcraft the other day. A friend (human warrior, lvl 28) was helping me power-level a new character (gnome mage, ~lvl 7) on Suramar server. We were running through the quests in Teldrassil, because it was the most foreign starting area for both of us, which alleviated some of the boredom of doing low-level quests. Some night elf came up to us and shouted "CAN I BE IN YOUR PARTY?!?!!" and after we conferred for a second we decided that no, he couldn't. He called my friend's character a fat-ass and called my character a "midget dude" (at which point I removed her shirt to reveal that, surprise, I'm playing a female), and then he set his character to automatically follow me. This lasted for at least a half hour, probably even 45 minutes, and occasionally he would shout something juvenile at us to try to rile us up. It didn't bother me much (it was kind of funny, in a pathetic sort of way), but after a while it got kind of boring so we decided to lose him. We still had another fifteen minutes recharge left on our hearthstones, so that wasn't really an option, but I had an idea how we were going to do it. Read about it after the jump.  Read more »

WoW - an expedition

Gnomish Airstrip - Waving Dwarf

I had a fun experience with WoW earlier this week.  Read more »

As I already mentioned, I took my mage, Melicious, on an expedition to the gomish airstrip, a hard-to-reach airfield right outside Ironforge. On my trip, I took lots of pictures, because I knew this would be something new for most players. And here they are for you to enjoy.

a quicky

Just a real quicky, as it's way past my bedtime:

a) I'm really really really loving the Decemberists right now. Not only is the music really mellow and comforting, and catchy, but the lyrics are intelligent and creative. I've got three of their albums right now, and I've got them all on repeat. Too nice!

b) In World of Warcraft, just tonight I got my character Melicious to the gnomish Airstrip outside of Ironforge. It's not normally an accessible area; it's meant to be viewed from overhead, during a flight from one city to another, but some creative people have figured out how to get there, and it's pretty cool. I took a few dozen pictures, so when I get the chance (probably Wednesday or Thursday), I'll go through them, pick out the best ones, and post them up on Flickr and here. I'll see you then!

Well, that's it. I'm off to bed now. Good night!

WoW Update 09.18

Hey guys, time for another periodical World of Warcraft update, for those of you who care. I've got three characters going on the Undermine server now, one at lvl 22, one at lvl 16, and one at lvl 5. I've done some PvP (Warsong Gulch), some instances (Deadmines/Van Cleef), and some general grinding. This time, though, I've got pictures. I've been playing a lot of WoW, which hopefully explains some of my lack of posting here. I'll give you the rundown after the break.  Read more »

WoW Update 09.04

Hey guys, for those of you who care, here's an update on my WoW experience:

first off, the game is fun, and, as they say, addicting. I'm not too bad off yet, because real life places demands on me that force me to get away from the game. Nevertheless, the game is indeed addicting.

My character "Melicious" on the Undermine server is doing well. She is currently at level 16, and I've given her a little decorative pet, a Great Horned Owl I've unofficially named "Jareth". Melicious has joined a guild, Asylum Knights, and is continually carving a niche for herself. She's visited all the major Alliance cities, but she spends most of her time in and around Ironforge, for the moment.

Meanwhile, at the advise of a website I found while browsing the internet, I've started a second character to alleviate the monotony of playing the same character all the time. This one is "Avimalanche", a Dwarven hunter, and he's currently made it to level 13. Avimalanche has a decorative pet too, a Silver Tabby unofficially named "Snowflake". On top of this, he's got his hunter's pet, a lvl 13 Snow Leopard named "Powdercrush". Avimalanche and Powdercrush are a deadly combination.

I'll try to get pictures up soon. For now, real life calls. Bye!
