Blogging 101 redo?
I've been thinking about updating my Blogging 101 site and then incorporating it as an offshoot of my main site, instead of as a standalone subdomain. Now I haven't used Blogger in a while, so updating it might become quite the project. Anybody want to join in on the project and help me get it underway?

Re: Blogging 101 redo?
Hm... A web-related project... Would I like to join that sort of thing? Of course!
What sort of work are we talking about?
Re: Blogging 101 redo?
well, take a look at the link in my post... at one point, that entire site was up to the minute fresh. What I was thinking of doing was updating all the information on the site and then working on keeping it maintained. We could do that two ways: keep as much of the original site intact (literally) but change the facts and instructions to reflect current methods, or keep the spirit of the site alive but do it over from scratch.
The site has a brief intro to blogs and blogging, a very detailed set of step by step instructions on how to set up and start a blog, hints and tips on how to maintain a blog, pointers for advanced blogging techniques (hosting and domain registration, custom site design, etc), and then a page full of relevant links.
Come to think of it, it looks like the Blogging 101 title and theme has kind of had its thunder stolen several times over (see Blogging 101, Blogging 101, Blogging 101, and Blogging 101). The copyright date on my site is older than most of those sites, but what's the point. I think the time has come to do this anew... basically I want to make a little section of this site (using Drupal and its Book hierarchy) that includes comprehensive and fool-proof instructions on how to start and maintain a blog. The focus should be on the basic stuff, so that ANYBODY can do it... but then we can also touch on more advanced stuff after. And thanks to the Book functionality of Drupal, every page in the book will be a seperate entry, able to be edited and modified without messing up the whole project... so if we ever have to update, it should be simple.
I'm not looking for a time-sink. This will be a side project with a very lax deadline. If you're interested, Matt, we can treat it like a real project: we plan, we delegate, we develop, and then we put it all together. What do you think?
Re: Blogging 101 redo?
Sounds like fun. Count me in.
Re: Blogging 101 redo?
Actually, I might even be able to get Drupal to treat it like a separate site... so like it could have a different theme and everything...
