strange indeed

There's an indie film coming out soon called We are the Strange. The director/producer of the film, M dot Strange, describes it as "Monsters Inc meets The Nightmare before Christmas inside of a retro Japanese videogame", which right there should be an indication of just how strange this film is. If you don't believe me, check out the trailer, up now on YouTube. According to M dot Strange, the film will be released for public consumption (means as of yet undetermined) sometime in 2007.
Thanks to OM at pabook for the heads up.
I watched the trailer and I've got to say it looks interesting, in a retro 8-bit claymation kind of way. The soundtrack is reminiscent of 80s video games, and more recently of the 8bitpeoples movement (I'll talk about them more in a later post, I promise), and that alone is compelling enough for me. The visuals are dirty and gritty and confusing, which just feels right given the premise of the film. It just looks like something I'll enjoy. I guess I'll know for sure when the final product sees the light of day, right?
Oh, and if you're interested, M dot Strange is looking for face extras for the final scene, which he is still filming.
