boredom sets in

It's the inter-holiday ho hum. You know, that period between Christmas and New Years where the partying is over but you know it's about to start again? This week is one of the most tedious weeks of the year, especially when you have to work, and this year is no exception. Things just seem to be dragging on, with no end in sight.

I've got nothing going on in my life right now that's worth a full blog post. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. Obviously the more personal things aren't going to be discussed at length, and I don't seem to have time to discover any of those trivial "check this out!" random website linkage posts that blogs often resort to. My life is fairly busy with stuff worth doing but not worth writing about. Whatever that means. When that happens, we resort to bullet points. You can "read more" to see those.

  • quick edit: my friend Moxie has made it to the finals in an online modeling contest and she's looking for all the help she can get to win the whole thing. If you can go to the contest site and vote for her, I'm sure she'd appreciate it, and I would too.
  • Since last Monday, I've been to the gym twice. That's not good. The holidays have caught up with me, and my gut has grown as a result. And, with the lack of exercise, my average energy level has dropped as well, and I'm not as all-around happy and/or confident as I have been recently. We'll have to work on that, so hopefully I'll be able to get there tomorrow after work.

I've gotten a lot of compliments at work lately on my professional behavior. Before Christmas, a handful of regular customers at the bank came in and tried to give me presents and tips for being such a "great guy". I'm not talking about presents and tips for me and my coworkers, I'm talking about just for me. As in they went through the trouble of getting me something, wrapping it, and stopping by the bank to give it to me. That strikes me as odd. One of my regulars tried to give me a check for $35. I thanked her but declined to take it. One customer that I wasn't too familiar with actually asked for my name and the number of a supervisor so he could call and recommend a promotion. That took me back... I asked my supervisor what was going on, and she said the same thing: that I have been doing an excellent job, and I deserved all of that. I'm not really used to getting unsolicited compliments, so all of this is strange to me. I'm not sure what it is that I'm doing that surpasses my job description so well that people are taking notice, but I hope to continue doing it.

  • I've also been getting compliments on the way I look and dress. I've been wearing a full suit to work for the past few months, and people are now starting to tell me how elegant and handsome I look. I'm getting regular comments on the ties I wear (the same ties I've been wearing for the past year!), on my shirts, on my hair, on my coat, on my old hat, on my new hat, and so on. It's making me blush. I was at the pharmacy today and two young girls (both much too young for me) were trying to flirt with me. Now to work that charm on ladies my own age! Yay!
  • I've begun playing World of Warcraft again, but I can only stand short doses of soloing. Having someone to quest with might change that, though...

World of WarCraft

Before I get distracted and forget (as usual), here's the character rundown:
Undermine - Human Rogue (9), named Renyard.
Suramar - Undead Warlock (22), Mylakhrion and Human Warrior (22), Tarrakhash.

I started playing on Suramar since that's where a buddy of mine usually is. Right now, we're doing pretty well between his Paladin (26) and my Warrior. Having a third in the group would be sweet, especially after the group we just tried to pull together tonight, bleh.
