Friday Update 08/11
Salutations, amigos! This week's CD is A Camp - A Camp (link), a soulful blend of pop and country rock from Nina Persson, the lead singer of The Cardigans. The album sounds a bit like Sheryl Crow with a europop spin; it's got Crow's up-beat, down to earth quality to it, but is produced in a style reminiscent of some Bjork's more melodic works. Or, for a more dead-on comparison, it sounds like a moodier Rilo Kiley.
I got turned on to A Camp while at Van Gogh's Ear, a local café that I frequent. One of their songs was on the playlist, and after hearing it several times over the past few weeks, I finally decided to ask what was playing earlier today. I didn't really know what I was going to pick up this week, so I decided to get this one. My other choice, which I'll probably be getting next week, was Feist - Let it Die (link).
